Are you sure they are gnats?


Sounds like fruit flies.

they are not gnats but fruit flies and they probably came in with your groceries or garden produce. Once indoors, you need to remove their food source or they will continue to multiple.





This is done by


1) keeping the kitchen trash covered and emptied on a daily basis.


2) capping open bottles of food stored on the shelf, such as vinegar and jams.


3) storing your fruit and veggies in the refrigerator.


4) wiping down the counters regularly ~ you don't need clorox, hot soapy water will do.


5) washing your dirty dishes immediately after eating.


6) drying off standing water on the counters and behind the sink.





Unfortunately, it takes this kind of work to kill off the flies.






I have had a gnat problem in my kitchen too recently. I would like to know as well how to get rid of those pesky buggers!
